- Finalist Vinesh Matt returns with gold at the Kiev Tournament
- In the final, Vinesh Fogat lost to 2017 World Champion V Kaladjinske
- Vinesh’s next tournament is the UWW Ranking Series event
Indian star wrestler Vinesh Fogat won the gold medal at the prestigious Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial Tournament by defeating 2017 World Champion V Kaladzinsky.
Against the world number seven Belarusian, it was not an easy fight for the third Indian as the two grippers were still testing each other.
Vinesh, who started with a throw from the left foot attack, won the 53kg final 4-0. But Kaladjinske won 4-4 with his great move.
Vinesh took a break at -4 and added his score with a withdrawal 10 seconds before the break.
The Belarusians put pressure on the Indians with a four-point throw, but within 25 seconds, Vinesh’s move scored another four points at 10-8. He reached the point where he pinned Kaladzinsk to earn gold.
This is the first competition for Venice, the only Indian female wrestler to qualify for the Tinko Games, as the coronavirus shut down all competitions last year.
When asked about his defense, Valencia-based Belgian coach Waller Acos said he would only speak after discussing the fight with his ward. Live TV
